Omar King

Omar is a native of Queens, NY and relocated to Raleigh, NC as a teenager where his home has been since. In 1999 he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and his Master’s of Divinity with Biblical Counseling degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, in Wake Forest NC. He is currently matriculating through Doctoral degree program in Education at Southeastern Seminary. Omar has been a staff counselor at Bridgehaven since its inception in 2012 and has logged close to ten thousand hours of counseling. Omar loves to counsel and bringing Christ and the gospel to bear in robust, relevant, and meaningful ways for his counselees. He cares deeply for his counselees, takes their challenges seriously, and works with them to assist and support them on their journey toward becoming more Christlike and imaging God more fully and accurately.

Omar sits on the Board for Called to Peace Ministries and works very closely with the organization dedicated to providing hope and healing to victims of domestic abuse. He has served individuals, couples and families in areas of marriage, pre-marriage, dating, depression, anger, anxiety, addiction, men’s issues, identity and security, and abuse. Omar and his wife LaToya of 13 years live in Wake Forest, NC. They have been members at the Summit Church in Raleigh-Durham since 2009. Omar is an ordained pastor and primarily carries out his shepherding in the counseling arena but also enjoys preaching, teaching, offering workshops on counseling related topics, and officiating weddings.
