Joy Forrest

Founder & Executive Director

Joy Forrest is the founder and executive director of Called to Peace Ministries (CTPM). She is author of Called to Peace: A Survivor’s Guide to Finding Peace & Healing After Domestic Abuse and the Called to Peace Companion Workbook. Joy holds an Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and has been active in counseling ministry since 2005. She has been an advocate for victims of abuse since 1997 and held the position of Community Educator with a local domestic violence agency in the early 2000’s.

Her experiences as a survivor, along with her involvement with a local domestic violence agency and church counseling, caused her to see a major need for faith-based resources for survivors of domestic abuse, as well as for churches to become better equipped to help families affected by it. In January 2015, she helped establish Called to Peace Ministries to promote domestic violence awareness and intervention within the faith community.

Joy is a contributing expert for DivorceCare’s recovery support group curriculum and the Institute for Biblical Counseling and Discipleship’s Counseling Care for Domestic Abuse videos. She was also co-author of the book Caring for Families Caught in Domestic Abuse, (Chris Moles, editor.)

In her spare time, she loves traveling and spending time with her family– especially her 11 grandchildren.
